1 September World Peace Day arrived once again in Turkey in the shadow environment of conflict and war. Members of the Peace Mothers Assembly in Izmir, welcoming the World Peace Day, said they wished for an end to the war.

Urgent call to resolve mounting problems in Hasankeyf

FIDH: Authorities are responsible for Ebru Timtik’s death in custody
The Observatory for the Protection of Human Rights Defenders (FIDH-OMCT) is shocked and deeply saddened by the death of human rights lawyer Ebru Timtik yesterday, after 238 days of hunger strike while in custody. The Observatory, which is holding the Turkish authorities responsible for her death, calls for the immediate and unconditional release of all human rights defenders arbitrarily detained in the country, including lawyer Aytaç Ünsal, who has been on hunger strike for over six months and whose health has sharply deteriorated.
