World Children’s Day is 20 November, a time to reflect on the abuse of children’s rights in Turkey and around the world. According to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), the number of prisoners in Turkey has markedly increased in recent times. Human rights defenders have additionally stated that the conditions of prisoners have worsened. TÜİK said that the number of people held in prisons in Turkey reached 291,546 as of 31 December 2019.

Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has been informed that, on Sunday, November 1, security forces have raided the family home of two Civilians (Saman Asadhakim and Mohammad Shafeizadeh) at the village of Dewaznav in Sarvabad city and arrested them. The two civilians were then transferred to an unknown location.
According to the data reported by the Ankara branch of Human Rights Association (İHD) in September 2020, 20 prisoners died in the first nine months of the year. Currently, a large number of ill prisoners are expecting to be released. One of the ill prisoners, Ali Boçnak, died in Patnos L-Type prison on September 24, and his son, Şakir Boçnak, urgently demands the release of other ill prisoners so that other families do not experience the same pain.
The Observatory for the Protection of Human Rights Defenders (FIDH-OMCT) is shocked and deeply saddened by the death of human rights lawyer Ebru Timtik yesterday, after 238 days of hunger strike while in custody. The Observatory, which is holding the Turkish authorities responsible for her death, calls for the immediate and unconditional release of all human rights defenders arbitrarily detained in the country, including lawyer Aytaç Ünsal, who has been on hunger strike for over six months and whose health has sharply deteriorated.
