It is learned from the news coverage of November 14, 2019 that 1 HPG militant died in a clash between security forces and HPG militants in İskenderun district of Hatay on October 26, 2019; 3 HPG militants died in an air operation of Turkish Armed Forces to rural areas of Doğubayazıt district of Ağrı on November 7, 2019; and 2 HPG militants died in an air operation to rural areas of Silopi district of Şırnak on November 9, 2019.
Police Intervention Against “I Want My Job Back” Protest in Ankara…
The police intervened the press declaration of public labourers who had been dismissed by a state of emergency decree and have been struggling 1101 days to regain their jobs, intended to be held in front of Human Rights Monument in Yüksel Street on November 14, 2019 at 13.30, and at 18.00.
It was reported that during police intervention against the press declaration which was planned to be held at 13.30 on November 14, 2019, 2 people (Merve Demirel and Nazan Bozkurt) and at 18.00 2 people (Nazan Bozkurt and Merve Demirel) were detained.
Thus in total 4 people were detained due to press declaration intended to be held in Yüksel Street on November 14, 2019. It is learned detained people were released on the same days they were detained.
Police Intervention to a Protest in Düzce…
On November 14, 2019 the police intervened the press declaration of Alev Şahin in order to regain her job from which she was dismissed by a state of emergency decree, in front of Justice and Development Party (AKP) provincial office and detained her. It is learned that Alev Şahin was released on the same day.
Detained Journalists in Giresun…
Journalists Canan Coşkun and Tuba Demir and documentarist Kazım Kızıl who were detained in Giresun on November 13, 2019 are released on judicial control conditions on November 15, 2019. It is learned that Canan Coşkun and Kazım Kızıl were in Giresun to follow the inquiry commission of Grand National Assembly which was established to investigate death of Rabia Naz Vatan (11) who was found wounded in front of her house in Eynesil district of Giresun on April 12, 2018 and then died in hospital. It is learned that Rabia Naz Vatan’s father Şaban Vatan was also detained on November 14, 2019 and was released on judicial control conditions on November 15, 2019.
Detained HDP Executives in Maraş…
On November 14, 2018, 8 people, all executives of People’s Democratic Party (HDP) are detained in house raids in Maraş. The names of detained people are: Ali Kısa, Elif Kısa, Halil Hoşoğlu, Bekir Kara, Hatun Bark, İbrahim Mayır, Dilek Bekir and Mehmet Dilekçi.
Arrested City Council Members in Diyarbakır…
Diyarbakır city council member and Lice district council member Şehriban Zuğurli who was detained in house raid in Diyarbakır on November 13, 2019, is arrested by the court on the charges of ‘resisting the police’, ‘knowingly and willingly aiding and illegal organisation’ and ‘making propaganda for an illegal organisation’.
Kayapınar district council Emel Arslan is arrested on the charges of ‘resisting the police’ and ‘knowingly and willingly aiding and illegal organisation’ at Diyarbakır Courthouse where she went to give official statement through an investigation on November 14, 2019.
Raid to Political Party Offices in Antep…
On November 14, 2019, HDP’s provincial office in Antep and offices in Şahinbey and Şehitkamil districts are raided by the police. 57 people are including HDP and Democratic Regions Party (DBP) members are detained in office and house raids. The names of detained people are: HDP Antep provincial co-chair Müslüm Kılıç, HDP Şahinbey district co-chair Mehmet Özkan, Habat Gengeç, Cuma Ali Taşçı, Servet Bayram, Diyar Bayram, Şükrü Özalan, Mahmut Aycan, Durri Kaygusuz, Azime Bali, Halil Kılıç, Şefik Sondu, Şahin Demir, Nesibe Çınar, Ali Yıldız, İsmail Berkpınar, Mehmet Karayılan, Ömer Faruk Koç, Sultan Bayındır, Hamza Bayındır, Cengiz Tunç, Zeki Demir, Faik Dursun, Ramazan Kuas, Guli Yaman, Salman Tutumlu, Mehmet Şahin, Nuray Göktepe, Bedran Fermanoğlu, Fatma Dikici, Tahir Altuğ, Ahmet İlbaş, Nafi Demir, Abdullah İnce, Emin Kavak, Sedika Yaman, Kasım Şan, Bircan Demir, Mehmet Çiftçi, Mustafa Yücel, Bekir Emlik, Hatice Küçüker, İbrahim Kaya, Mustafa Tunç, Müslüm Özkan, Sultan Özalp, Fatma Lebe, Abdurrahman Yalın, Erkan Şahin, Erol Daşdelen, Ahmet Hartavi, Güler Erat, Müslüm Şahinsoy, Emin Gümüştekin, Ömer Gümüştekin, Serhat Yıldırım and Süleyman Yağız.
It is also learned that lawyers Alaattin Aslan, Berivan Özpolat, Mehmet Alagöz, Mehmet Erdem, Hasan Önder Sulu, Adnan Erol, Yakup Koca, Mustafa Yalçın, Mustafa Hartavi, Mahmut Fermanoğlu and Kahraman Çiçek are banned from defending those who were detained. It is reported that Antep Public Prosecutor’s Office banned the lawyers from defence for 1 year, on the grounds of being members of Lawyers for Freedom (ÖHD).
Police Raid to an Event in Adana…
It is learned from the news coverage of November 14, 2019 that the police raided the event organized for 25th year of Atılım newspaper in Seyhan district of Adana on November 3, 2019. It is reported that the police seized issues of Atılım newspaper and Özgür Gençlik magazine which were delivered at the event, on the grounds of a ban on these periodicals. It is also learned that Ahmet Türkeş, a member of Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP) who attended the event was detained by the police that day and was released by the court on judicial control conditions on November 4, 2019. It is reported that ESP Party Assembly member Osman Kara and ESP member Kemal Gençaydın were called to the police for official statement and were detained there. Kemal Gençaydın was released after statement procedures and Osman Kara is referred to the court and was released on judicial control conditions and with a ban on leaving the city on November 11, 2019. It is reported that Adana Penal Court of Peace ruled a ban on Atılım newspaper on the charge of ‘making propaganda for an illegal organisation’, after the appeal made to the prosecutor’s office.
Police Officer on Trial for Killing Necmettin Fendik in Hakkari…
The case against police officer A. F. K., on the charge of ‘causing death of Necmettin Fendik by reckless conduct’ is held at Yüksekova Penal Court of First Instance No 2 o November 14, 2019. Necmettin Fendik died due to police fire during a house raid in Yüksekova district of Hakkari on July 18, 2017. The court adjourned the trial to January 28, 2020.
Political Party Executives on Trial in Mardin…
The case against DBP provincial co-chairs Leyla Bozkurt and Şeyhmuz Sun, HDP Party Assembly members Alaattin Semir Zuğurli and Sedat Ay, and HDP provincial co-chair Ali Sincar is held at Mardin Heavy Penal Court No 4 on November 14, 2019. It is learned that Alaattin Semir Zuğurli stated at the trial that they were not aware of the charges against them since the case file is not given them by prison administration although it was submitted by their lawyers to the prison. The court decided to continue detention of 5 people and adjourned the trial to December 10, 2019.
Those 5 people were detained in house raids in Nusaybin and Kızıltepe districts of Mardin on July 24, 2019 and were arrested on July 30, 2019.
Journalist on Trial in Istanbul…
The final trial of the case against Fatih Polat, Evrensel newspaper executive editor, on the charge of ‘insulting the President’ in his article “What do respondents say about the allegations about Erdoğan family?”, is held at Bakırköy Penal Court of First Instance No 31 on November 14, 2019. The court acquitted Fatih Polat.
TV10 Channel Employees on Trial in Istanbul…
The case against TV10 channel employees Kemal Demir and Kemal Karagöz, on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’ is held at Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No 28 on November 14, 2019. The court rejected to lift ban on leaving the country and judicial control conditions on Kemal Demir and Kemal Karagöz and adjourned the trial to January 28, 2020.
Former MP on Trial for ‘Insulting the President’…
The first case against Gaye Usluer, former MP of Republican People’s Party (CHP), on the charge of ‘insulting the President’ for a declaration of the party assembly in 2016 is held at Ankara Penal Court of First Instance No 39 on November 14, 2019. The court adjourned the trial to February 20, 2020.

A physician named M. G. who was detained through an Istanbul based investigation against military doctors on November 14, 2019 is arrested by the court on the same day.
Ban of Events in Hakkari…
Hakkari Governorate made a declaration on November 14, 2019 and announced that, all open events such as demonstrations, press declarations, meetings, sit-ins, opening stands and tents, festivals, concerts, delivering leaflets and so on are banned for 15 days as of November 15, 2019. This extended the ban on all events in Hakkari to 240 days since April 4, 2019.
